Ms. Pacman Cupcakes

A week ago a group of my daughter's friends asked me to bake Ms. Pacman cupcakes for a birthday party. They sent me a link of a photo they saw on instagram for me to see the cupcakes they wanted. Of course I baked it for them, I loved pacman back in the 80's.

Normally I try to avoid coping designs from the web when decorating cakes for my customers, I always try to do something original and mine, but with all the instant sharing going on, it is easier for customers to get more involved with what is "trendy" on the web and picking what they like. I thought the retro idea is great and wanted to share these with you, but not before looking for the owner of the photo sent to me. I'm glad my detective work paid off, I did find the photo on the web and its owner, Cupcakes Nouveau. I hope you like the idea.

I cannot go on without saying the following: Technology is a great way to receive and share information and ideas, but photo sharing has its pros and cons. Many times photos are shared freely on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram, with no information of whom is the original owner of the photo. People innocently continue to forward, but that's not fair.  We all are all culprits sometimes when we hit the like, share, pin it, repin, etc. The next time you share photos please remember to include their proper links.

I frosted the chocolate cupcakes with a Italian meringue and then placed the Ms. Pacman cupcake topper. I loved how they looked! A true 80's flashback of when I used to played this game with my brother.

I would like to thank Elsa G. who was kind enough to send me a pattern for pacman. I found the same one in various sizes: here, I hope it is usefull to you.  Thanks Elsa :)

Breadsticks

If you are the type of person that's afraid of working with bread dough, this easy breadsticks recipe, will be a bridge for you to successfully make some bread or pizza dough in the future. These grissinis go perfect with a salad or pasta dish. Sometimes I prepare them for snack accompanied with some pizza sauce. They're a huge hit at home and hopefully in yours as well! Enjoy!

Seared Chicken, Pink Tomato and Orange Dressing Salad

I was undecided of what to post for this year’s first recipe, if a sweet or a savory one. I opt for a light, yet satisfying dish salad that would be great to prepare for lunch or dinner. I thought it would be of great benefit since I am sure many of us have healthy eating as one of our New Year resolutions. What I like the most of this dish is the homemade orange salad dressing that goes well with many salads. I hope you do try this soon because it's so good that all bottled dressings made with artificial ingredients in your home will be tossed away. I use homegrown organic bitter orange juice, but you could use the juice of a fresh sweet orange for a slightly sweet tang dressing.

I hope your New Year started with wonderful blessings for you and your family! Mine has been so far so good and I have faith it is going to be a blessed Year. There is a new addition to the family, her name is Snowflakes. I know if any of my family and close friends read this they are going to think I am crazy since I already have eight other dogs, but I had to keep this one, she is the dog I always wanted. I’ll be very busy training her, so wish me luck. You can see Snowflakes here.

I also would like to thank everyone who bought my eBook. You can find more information on, How to Cook Dominican Style, here. This mini project is my first step towards achieving my goal of one day making a tangible book with all my favorite traditional recipes. For those who like baking sweets I have two more pending eBooks. I could tell you upfront that one is about suspiro and that I have been working on it  for over a year. I hope to have it published soon.
